As the lockdown continues, not many of us are going to enjoy sea views in person anytime soon. Unless you’re lucky enough to live on the coast, you’ll have to make do with the views from your window, garden or daily local walk wherever you are.
If you’re a regular visitor to the seaside, you’re no doubt missing your springtime trip to the coast. It’s especially difficult in this glorious weather when our favourite beaches and coastal hotspots look spectacular in the sunshine.
But the message is clear. We can’t travel to the coast for a holiday or day trip. We need to stay at home, stay safe and protect our NHS.
Luckily, there are ways to get your sea view fix from the comfort of your own home. So pick up your phone or your computer and check out the views from these seaside webcams around the British coast.
Minack Theatre, Cornwall
Located close to Land’s End in Cornwall, the views from the Minack Theatre are some of the finest in the country. This open-air theatre may be temporarily closed for performances, but the webcam is live and streaming beautiful sea views of Porthcurno beach and rugged coastline.
The Cobb, Dorset
Watch the fishing boats come and go from this webcam situated on the Cobb in Lyme Regis. Famous as a filming location for The French Lieutenant’s Woman, the Cobb offers glorious sea views of Lyme Bay and Lyme Regis’ colourful seafront.
Solent View, Isle of Wight
Enjoy panoramic views across the Solent to Portsmouth from the camera situated in Ryde on the Isle of Wight. You can see for miles on a clear, sunny day from the camera’s elevated position. You can also watch the ferries come and go between the island and the mainland.
Brighton Pier, East Sussex
Few sights evoke the character of the British seaside than this Victorian pier in Brighton. From this camera mounted at the Queen’s Hotel you can see the promenade, pier and shimmering sea at this coastal gem.
Dover Beach, Kent

Sherringham Seafront, Norfolk
Watch the waves lapping the shore on Sherringham beach from this webcam. This beautiful coastal resort is a lovely place to visit for sea views. For the time being, you’ll have to make do with this view beamed from the Norfolk coast to your screen.
Scarborough North Bay, Yorkshire
Sit back and admire the view of the beach in the seaside resort of Scarborough. This webcam has three views so you can revel in the scenery along the whole length of one of Yorkshire’s finest surfing beaches.
Isle of Cumbrae, Scotland
Who wouldn’t want to be in the Scottish Islands right now? Visit the islands virtually from this live webcam in the village of Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae with lovely full-screen views over the bay.
Llandudno, Wales
See live footage from the seafront of this popular Victorian seaside resort in Wales. The camera shows fantastic sea views of Llandudno’s coastline, the Great Orme headland and the town’s famous Victorian pier.
Mumbles, Wales
See the sun shimmering on the sea in Swansea Bay from this webcam situated in Mumbles. This beautiful village is the gateway to the Gower Peninsula, where visitors can usually enjoy some of the country’s finest coastal scenery. For now, you’ll have to cope with this fine, virtual view.

Newquay Harbour, Cornwall
You can watch the tide roll in and roll away again from this webcam overlooking Newquay harbour. Located at the Harbour Hotel, the camera provides a great view of the bay and the surf at Towan Beach.
