Description

A delightful two bedroomed, two en-suite maisonette has been turned upside down making the most of the stunning views of the River Dart, including the Naval College and the Marina. Kingswear has two pubs, shop, bistro and 5 min ferry from Dartmouth. Parking is included.

Opposite Dartmouth, Kingswear is a friendly village with the kind of charm that makes you feel as though you’re really in Devon. All rooms offer spectacular views – always something to watch! Kingswear benefits from the afternoon and evening sun!

Chapel House is a short walk from the centre of Kingswear and a 5-minute ferry trip runs until late to/from Dartmouth. Kingswear benefits from all the afternoon sun and the Kingswear pubs, café, post office, ferries and train station are a stone's throw away.

Downstairs, bedroom 1 is a double with stone tiled en-suite and the king-sized bedroom 2 has a large en-suite with vaulted ceiling.

Upstairs you will find the fully equipped kitchen/diner with seating for 4 plus a handmade church pew. Everything you would expect to find in a kitchen including a dishwasher, microwave, fan oven and induction hob.

The lounge has two, two-seater sofas and a recliner chair, Digital HD TV (with Amazon Prime), DVD, music system, SEGA games console, books, games, maps & charts.

Chapel House has fast fibre-broadband, WiFi and a good phone signal throughout.

Outside Chapel House there is a small sunny courtyard with table and chairs.

Chapel House is close to Kingswear’s two pubs, bistro, shops, café, post office, steam railway and ferries to the vibrant town of Dartmouth. Kingswear lies right on the South West Coast Path near to Devon’s beautiful Blue Flag beaches.

Please get in touch if you need any advice or tips on places to visit, walks (we're right on the South West Coast path), pubs & restaurants etc.

A £100 good house-keeping/damage deposit applies.

No dogs or young children due to the steep internal staircase (there is a good handrail for everyone else!).

Please be aware the property is situated on a narrow lane (signposted as 6"6) and may not be accessible for some cars. Approaching by foot is up a short (approx. 25 meters) but steep hill.

Parking is included in the nearby Marina, a short walk away. There is a drop-off zone at the end of Wood Lane.

We try to keep to Friday changeovers during peak times.

"Chapel House is a lovely tucked away gem! The house was excellent, all you could possibly need. The weather was kind to us with lots of meals out! The Ship Inn is a short stroll away is worth a visit. Lovely walks along the South West coastal path which is absolutely stunning, will definitely return."

"Had an excellent holiday staying at Chapel House. The property is as described (well-equipped and very clean) and in a great location, we preferred staying in Kingswear rather than Dartmouth as it was more peaceful and part of the holiday fun was catching the lower ferry each morning to Dartmouth to sample the numerous breakfast and coffee shops. Parking at the marina is very convenient (only took the car out once though as there is so much to do from the door step). We never ceased to tire of the views from the windows over the Dart and a bonus was the little courtyard (with table and chairs) that was a sun trap later afternoon and a great place to have a tipple while the sun set over Dartmouth. Would highly recommend Chapel House. There was nothing negative we could say about it and will definitely be back"

"Chapel House is a wonderful hide away with stunning views from each of its windows! Situated in the very heart of the old city of Kingswear this little House is a lovely home for holidays. Every morning we enjoyed breakfeast with beautiful views over harbour activities and the little steam train running below. The description is fully accurate and the house provides even more with two equal bedrooms, two bathrooms and a lovely sitting room and kitchen lounge. Everything is very tidy and newly equipped and renovated. We really didn‘t want to leave it again! Round the corner you find „steam packet Inn“ which became our dining room with really nice food and friendly people. We did the round trip by steam train and boat and also visited the beach at Blackpool (which awfully has got pebbles, no Sand, but a very nice surrounding). Dartmouth on the other side of the bas is easy to visit by Ferry and worth a trip. The owner Colin Marshall and his manager were very helpful when we forgot some of our clothes. We can highly recommand this beautiful house; it was the most beautiful accommodation of our roundtrip along England‘s south west coast!"

"We had the most fabulous stay at Chapel House. The facilities were great and property in the perfect location with stunning views. There was plenty to see and do around Devon and if you don't feel like doing anything at all you can just sit and watch the world go by. A huge thank you to Colin for the opportunity of our fabulous holiday."

"This is such a beautiful little cottage turned upside down to make the most of the views of Dartmouth and the river, you won't get bored of looking out of the window. There are two decent sized bedrooms, one with a full bathroom and the other with en-suite and both with good wardrobe and draw space. We are a family of 4 and have a 4 year old son and a 4 month old baby and we found the cottage a perfect size. I would recommend staying here to anyone and hope to return shortly, great location, great cottage, what a great combination."

"Amazing home from home. We had a fantastic week and what with the amazing views and the lovely warm welcoming house we didn’t want to go out. I would recommend to anyone Gary from Great Yarmouth"

"Chapel house provided us with the perfect long weekend break away from the rest of the world. The cottage itself is lovely, with everything you might need, and provides a warm and cosy space you really don't want to leave! The location meant complete silence and the best nights sleep- as well as being so close to the hustle and bustle when wanted. The quaint lower ferry provided ease and excitement when heading over to Dartmouth, where copious pubs and restaurants as well as shops and access to outdoor activities could be found. We can't wait to visit again, and it will certainly be longer than a weekend- We would recommend without any hesitation."

"The location is an excellent base for touring Devon. The house is delightful with great views from every window and it was lovely to sit looking out with a glass of wine. Binoculars were a great idea, and there is plenty there for children - games and puzzles etc. All the crockery, glasses, cooking equipment etc is excellent quality. The hill to the house is a bit steep if you are unfit, but you can't get those views without a bit of a climb. Would highly recommend"

"We had the most fabulous stay at Capel House. The facilities were great and property in the perfect location with stunning views. There was plenty to see and do in and around Devon and if you don't feel like doing anything at all you can just sit and watch the world go by. A huge thank you to Sarah & Graham for the opportunity of our fabulous holiday"

"I had the pleasure of staying for the Dartmouth music festival. The house has a generous lounge with a picture perfect view of the river. The bedrooms were comfortable and cosy and offered a relaxing sleep. The owners have thought of everything and on a rainy day we had fun playing the board games on offer. With a quick stroll down the slope you can access the ferry to Dartmouth but don't forget to have a few at the Steam pack inn on kingswear side well worth a stop."

"This is such a beautiful little cottage turned upside down to make the most ofthe views of Dartmouth and the river, you won't get bored oflooking out of the window. There are two decent sized bedrooms, one with a full bathroom and the other with en-suite and both with good wardrobe and draw space. We are a family of 4 and have a 4 year old son and a 4 month old baby and we found the cottage a perfect size, my thoughts would be that the house may not be suitable for children who are perhaps of toddler age as there are some steps stairs and the lounge area and kitchen open straight on to them. The kitchen is well equipped and has that all important dishwasher so you don't have to waste time washing dishes in the sink and spend more time enjoying your stay. The binoculars were a nice little touch helping you get a closure look of the boats on the river. There is a little booklet about some local attractions a hot spots and I have to agree with most of the recommendations of where to dine. I found Sarah (the owner) very friendly and was quick to respond even when I had a query whilst we were away. I would recommend staying here to anyone and hope to return shortly, great location, great cottage, what a great combination."

"Lovely clean and comfortable house in a very convenient position just a 5 minute walk from the rather quaint lower ferry. Dartmouth is a year-round resort with plenty going on."

Adrian G, November 2015

"Lovely house in great location! - Really enjoyed our stay at Chapel House- it's a lovely house exactly as listed and had everything we needed, including books and board games for rainy days! It's in a great location with beautiful views across the river to Dartmouth and plenty to do in the surrounding areas. Would defmitely reccomend!"

Natalie L, September 2015

"We stayed at Chapel House at the end of July and had a wonderful week. The house is beautiful and is in the perfect location for the lower ferry and steam railway. It Is well equipped, nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. The views are amazing from all rooms. It is in a quiet spot down a narrow lane with next to no traffic. We absolutely loved it and wouldn't hesitate to return."
