The red sandstone cliffs of Orcombe Point at the eastern end of Exmouth beach are designated the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. The 2 miles of sandy beaches are equipped with watch towers and are patrolled by day from May to September by trained lifeguards and surf rescue craft. Exmouth offers excellent water sports facilities which include sailing, power boating, water skiing, jet skiing, wake and paddle boarding, wind or kite surfing and canoeing. Coastal and estuary cruises operate from the dock and charter boats are available for fishing trips. From November to February, the Exe Estuary is home for some 20,000 migratory birds and is internationally acclaimed as a premier European bird-watching site.
The beautiful pebbled heathlands of East Devon with their extensive walks, abundant wildlife, rare plants, and splendid panoramic views are only a few minutes’ drive from the town boundary. The surrounding countryside and many other places of interest are accessible through the local bus, rail and comprehensive cycle and foot path networks. Beach 350 yards.
