Guest Comments

"This was a beautiful cottage. Very clean, warm and well equipped. It was a bonus to have use of the hall gardens for our daily walks."

Mr Coates, November 2021

"Clean, cosy cottage in a stunning location."

Mrs Whitaker, November 2021

"Very pet friendly holiday home close to the sea, coastal path, and Alnwick, but without many immediate neighbours nor traffic. A lovely spot."

Mr Hunter, October 2021

"Great location - straight onto the coastal path. Perfect for exploring all of the great Northumbria locations. Walking heaven, lovely host, very helpful. Co-op just down the road for those additional items. Best of all so dark at night so you can enjoy the sky and listen to the sea"

Mr Armfield, September 2021

"Excellent location, easy walking direct from the door. Great variety of walking too, woodland, countryside and coast path all on the doorstep with wildlife aplenty to watch (Barn owls hunt the field next door). Ideal accommodation, with plenty of room to spread out"

Mr Everett, June 2021

"A lovely week. Anna next door was so helpful, informative and always happy to help."

Mr Phil Kennedy, December 2019

"Standard of cleanliness on arrival was excellent. It was a pleasure to enter the property."

Mrs Catherine Whitaker, November 2019

"new-found second home...now our second year of using. excellent location and close coastal walking."

Mr Stephen Douglass, September 2019

"Full disclosure: I attended this school as an infant and so of course remember it from then and feel a nostalgic connection. It has been delightfully converted, almost beyond recognition, with the addition of a mezzanine floor over the lobby, kitchen and bathroom, while the living room still has the full height of the building, with large windows. The heating is good making it warm and comfortable to spend time in, even in the winter, which can be bleak (and dark) on the Northumbrian coast. The conversion is very spacious for two people, with a large sitting room (two settees where both can stretch out and read); a good kitchen and bathroom downstairs, with a second toilet and basin upstairs by the bedroom, which has a big bed and plenty of wardrobe space. The mobile signal is poor in Howick, but there's wifi. There's no shop or post office any more, and there never was a pub, but buses run from right outside the School to Craster in one direction and Alnwick in the other, both lovely and blessed with great places to eat and drink. There are parking spaces outside the door and it only takes a few minutes to drive to Craster or Embleton, twenty minutes to Alnwick. You can walk to Craster in summer, one of the best walks to be found anywhere in the world. The whole area is really lovely."

Fred Taylor, Oxford, March 2018
