Brook Bay can be found moments away on the unspoiled south west coast of the island. The beach is made up of golden sands, and is great for many activities, from cricket on the beach, to kite and wind-surfing for the more adventurous. One of the beach’s more unique features is the fossilised forest of huge trees which appears from beneath the waves at Hanover Point at low tide, it’s definitely worthwhile booking a tour on the beach to see the dinosaur footprints in the sandstone ledge.

The island has become a real hot spot for cycling enthusiasts with a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level purpose-made tracks running along its former railway lines. Cycle to the famous Needles landmark or take on the full round the island route, which is 66 miles long and is used for the annual Isle of Wight Randonnee. You can also travel along the route at a more leisurely pace and along the way you will find numerous restaurants, pubs and cafés amongst the quaint villages and towns serving tasty local produce. "This was our second visit to Badgers Sett Brook. The location is perfect for us (it’s not at the touristy end of the island!). Nice and quiet, and a short walk from Compton Bay, and a short drive to Freshwater Bay. There’s a good pub up the road, and a village shop a little further on. It’s about a 5 minute drive into Freshwater if you need petrol/supermarket. If you want attractions, this location probably isn’t for you, but if you want nice walks, pretty scenery and a bit of peace a quiet, it’s perfect. The accommodation itself is cosy, but adequate for a short stay."

"Badgers Sett Brook is a great place to get away from it all. It's set in a very quiet, picturesque village and there is an easy walk to the local beach, coastal path and pub. There is a gorgeous National Trust property in walking distance too. The property has a quaint little patio where we spent many hours relaxing, reading and soaking up a few rays. Also one evening we had a barbecue. We had our bikes with us and used them everyday as there is easy access to many of the beautiful cycle paths all over the island. It would have been very useful if there had have been a place to store the bikes although I realise that space is an issue. Also the gallery bedroom is very very small and because it is situated in the roof gets incredibly hot even with windows and doors open. Luckily there was a fan that we could use but the duvet was far too hot for summer time. We had a fabulous week though and would definitely return if the price was affordable."

"The kitchen was very small but enjoyed walking up to the local pub that served delicious dinners. Did meet the hosts due to Covid rules but they had kindly left a sweet message in a card together with a lovely bottle of red wine. The little court yard was beautiful and gorgeous flowers. As there was a gate our dog was safe going out. Loved it shame it was not winter as would definitely have enjoyed the fire place. Will fully recommend this for a couple and their dog!"

"Excellent cottage in a quiet dark place...... at times we could only hear the sea.... at other times we could see only stars. Helpful friendly local owner and supportive cleaning team for my wife’s broken leg during the holiday.... Our minor criticisms are that the tv is too small for our eyesight, that some mesh in the gates would deter puppy escapes, and that the sleeping area is very compact. We would come here again! We intend to do so. Our puppy loved being here."

"Lovely holiday cottage. Everything was there for a great break, and I loved the log Stove. All really comfortable and very clean. Highly recommended. My dog loved it too  as it was very near a beach."

"This was the perfect place for two and a dog. So close to coastal walks and a good base for visiting the rest of the Island. The Sun Inn just up the road served great food and covid-19 safe and the staff were very friendly."

"My second stay in this cleverly designed and immacuately presented cottage. It is a perfect base for exploring West White with immediate access onto a bridleway leading onto a network of tracks and trials in one direction and a five mintue walk to the beach with the coastal path in the other."
