This charming, detached, Grade II listed toll house is situated on the edge of the oldest part of the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, beyond the remains of the ancient walls. All on the ground floor with lots of light and comfortably furnished throughout it’s an ideal retreat for couples keen to enjoy a car free holiday being just 5 minutes walk to the railway station. Great for exploring the glorious beaches and fishing villages of the Northumbrian coast; Alnwick and Bamburgh castles are in easy reach as are the great houses of the Scottish Borders, Paxton, Floors and Mellerstain. Berwick has a wide array of shops, pubs, restaurants and an excellent theatre at The Maltings. Edinburgh is under an hour by train. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 220 yards.

"We absolutely loved our stay at the Toll House. We had all amenities we would need, lovely welcome treats, including doggie bowls and treats. The location of the house is superb with two parks on either side of the house and just a minute away from the Royal Border bridge. We loved the walk by the river, especially at sunset. The house is at a crossroad, so if you're a light sleeper, you could be bothered by the traffic noise outside (after all it was a Toll house). Berwick is a charming historic town with lots of different walks and places to visit. For the foodies - definitely go to Audela (book in advance), Queen's head, Mavi. All in all, we recommend the Toll house and would love to come back in the future. Thank you for the hospitality."

Only negative is the road noise, we aren’t used to it so perhaps it doesn’t effect everyone but the location on a junction of two main roads did make for a noisy nights sleep!"
