Garden Cottage is an attractive, semi-detached period property with chocolate box appeal, both inside and out. It is situated on one of the oldest roads in Hornsea, just a pleasant 5-minute stroll from the seafront and the town centre. The cottage itself is over 200-years old and together with the adjoining coach house formed part of a large estate belonging to one of Hull’s ship building families. The property is spacious and has been tastefully decorated throughout, with a cosy living room boasting a bay window, as well as both bedrooms benefitting from a TV and en-suite facilities. A gated driveway and outdoor seating area provide a private spot to sit and relax.

A five minute walk takes you to the seafront, with its pretty promenade and sandy beaches. There is also a boat compound with launching facilities for boats and jet skis. Hornsea Leisure Centre is located on the seafront where you will find a heated swimming pool, gymnasium, squash courts, café and other facilities. The cottage is also only a short walk from Hornsea Mere, Yorkshire’s largest freshwater lake which gave the area its name, ‘Lakeland by the Sea’. Here you will find rowing and sailing boats and an opportunity to see some wonderful wildlife. Hall Garth Park is nearby, from here you could wander through the tree-lined park to the town centre, with its museum, small, independent shops, restaurants and cafés. There is also a larger selection of shops at Hornsea Freeport located at the other side of the town, with a children’s soft play area here to keep the little ones entertained. As Hornsea is the finishing point for the Trans Pennine Way, the cottage provides the perfect base for cycling. There is a well maintained trail by the seafront which takes you along the old railway line, providing a largely level route with various adjoining countryside cycle tracks.

Hornsea is an unspoilt seaside town with an unassuming charm. It has everything you need for a seaside holiday and is close to the busier resorts of Bridlington and Scarborough. You could drive or catch a bus to the beautiful market town of Beverley, or visit Hull, the UK’s City of Culture 2017 and home to The Deep Aquarium. There are also various stately homes and gardens to visit within half and hours’ drive and the Yorkshire Wolds, made famous by artist David Hockney, are also close by. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

“This cottage is deceptively spacious and just lovely. We had a wonderful short break exploring lots of nearby beaches with our dog. The owners have thought of literally everything, and even left some delicious lemon cake for our arrival. I would recommend this special place to everyone!”

“Garden cottage is exactly as described . Lovely cosy, comfyclean place. 5 mins to beach , park, local shops not much further if your mobile . The Mere little bit further on as was the Freeport shops and Tesco superstore . We had a meal at the Italian , really good food . Flamborough was well worth a visit esp if you are mobile and like a bracing walk, coffee at the beach was awful machine stuff , cafe at the top much nicer. Drove to Withernsea ,waste of time, run down place not worth the time going. Bridlintn is a large town, very touristy . It's worth the drive going further north to Robin H bay , Staithes or Whitby if you can. Enjoyed our break , the owner left a lovely treat scones, clotted cream and home made jam . Perfect .”

Cottage was a great base and we visited Beverley, Bridlington and Hull during our stay. Hornsea is a lovely little town with a great selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Beach walks were lovely. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back!”

“We would highly recommend Garden Cottage. It's been lovingly refurbished with lots of homely touches. It's very comfortable and well located to explore Hornsea, the fabulous East Coast of Yorkshire and the many cultural and architectural interests of Hull. Our host was in touch which was nice and it was good to know that she lived nearby had we needed to contact her. Clear instructions as to how the cottage worked were welcome as were the tasty homemade scones!”
