A delightful small cluster of five, dog-friendly holiday cottages nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Mead Barn Cottages are situated on the north Devon coast, close to the Cornish border, and are the perfect choice for a memorable holiday at any time of year. These pretty cottages will appeal to families and couples alike with a selection of individual barns all presented to a high standard. Great Tythe Barn (ref UKC1622) is perfect for two families holidaying together, or for a small slice of luxury, Red Cottage (ref UKC1618) is a delightful retreat for couples with a stunning double-ended bath in the bedroom. Formerly part of the old milking parlour and cow barn are Wheat Barn (ref UKC1620) and Barley Barn (ref UKC1621), both of which are accessed by a separate small external stone staircase, and Rye Barn (ref UKC1619), a charming character cottage that is on the ground floor of the barn beneath Wheat Barn and Barley Barn. On-site guests have access to tennis courts and a games room which houses a pool table and table tennis table. Beach toys and rackets are at your disposal.

The character thatched village pub is just a short walk from the cottages, and serves real ales and excellent food. The pub is perfect for families, and dogs are welcome too! The cottages are situated within the charming tiny hamlet of Mead, which has remained largely unchanged for 150 years, and next to the village of Welcombe, which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. Just a few minutes’ walk is Welcombe Mouth, where dogs are welcome all year round, with its beach, surfing, dramatic cliffs, waterfall and remarkable views, this stunning location has something for everyone. From here you can pick up the famous South West Coast Path for challenging walks and the most impressive vistas. In the other direction are country lanes winding round verdant, rolling meadows spotted with cows and sheep, where thatched inns can be discovered by following footpaths through ancient woodlands. The spectacular scenery around Welcombe makes it the perfect venue for those who enjoy coast and country walks. Picturesque Clovelly, with its cobbled street leading down to a tiny harbour, is just a short drive away. Historic Bideford, a prosperous port during the heyday of trade with America, has town amenities, restaurants, a weekly market and boat trips to Lundy Island. Bude, 13 miles, has a good selection of shops and restaurants, many specialising in locally caught sea food, along with a golf course, indoor ‘splash’ pool’, surf schools and bowling. Beach ¾ mile. Shop 2½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
