“Lovely stay at Samphire Cottage. The cottage itself is well equipped and in a great location. The owner was very friendly and information sent was very thorough. Was initially concerned about parking from previous reviews however was able to comfortably fit a medium sized vehicle with no problems. Would definitely recommend and hope to return again.”

“An absolutely lovely cottage. The photos do not do it justice. Two huge bedrooms, bathrooms and a fully appointed kitchen. Everything is top notch. The driveway is a bit challenging but nothing to worry about too much. The location is gorgeous and there is loads to do in Portland and the surrounding area. We would love to come back soon!”

“A characterful old cottage, beautifully decorated and generously supplied with equipment. A lovely welcome pack of Dorset produce set the tone for a very enjoyable stay. The location was excellent, with shops, good pubs for food and lovely scenery and things of historic interest all within walking distance.Only 2 provisos though: The stairs are very steep indeed, so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Also, the street itself is extremely steep, and some manoeuvring is required to get into the snug parking spot, so not for fainthearted drivers either.”

“This cottage really did exceed our expectations. It was warm, cosy and spotlessly clean. The owners provided all the extras you could possibly need during your stay, which in our experience, isnt always the case. Our stay took in the Christmas period and the festive decorations were a nice touch. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.”

“We enjoyed our stay at Samphire Cottage, it was very clean when we arrived and a lovely welcome hamper full of Dorset goodies was left for us to enjoy. There was every cleaning product, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and various cloths available which was great. The location is great for visiting local places like Portland Bill, Weymouth, etc, however, as advised we took our smaller car as the road gets very busy, so we had to drive on the pavement to pass the parked cars and our bigger car would not have fit in the drive.”

“A 100% immaculately presented cottage equipped with absolutely everythingand more! All furnishings and equipment is of the highest quality. An added bonus was a delightful welcome hamper with Dorset goodies such as beer, cider, biscuits and chutney which we very much enjoyed. The position is superb 2 minute walk to a small supermarket and to the Chesil Cove. Lots of walking opportunities and local buses very reliable. We were enchanted on arrival and that didn't fail at all during our week stay. We would highly recommend the cottage and hope to go again ourselves.”

“Fantastic little cottage over three floors. Wonderfully clean and lots of essential equipment items provided. Great decor throughout and having two bathrooms, when you have teenagers, is an absolute dream. I would recommend this lovely home from home.”
— Louise, 5 September 2021
“It was a very lovely cottage, many local amenities were limited due to the global pandemic. The location is lovely, but would not recommend for people who struggle with mobility as lots of steep streets and the stairs in the cottage are very very steep.”

“We had a wonderful time! The cottage was very comfy and wellequipped, and really close to the beach and the little high street in Fortuneswell.”
— Martina, 27 July 2021
“We had been pre warned that the stairs were steep and that parking was tight on a steep hill. This was true but manageable. The cottage was delightful, spotlessly cleaned, extremely well equipped, so comfortable and tastefully decorated. Very comfortable beds and 2 excellent bathrooms. Full sun on the front seating area. The owners were so thoughtful and helpful. Great starting point to tour the Dorset Coast.”
