Wheelwright Barn offers spacious living throughout and has been finished to a high standard with excellent levels of comfort. The large, split-level, open plan living/dining room/kitchen has retained all of the original character, complete with beams and the original, Victorian line shaft with cast iron drive wheels within the magnificent vaulted ceilings. The blend of contemporary design and traditional materials used in creating the kitchen, particularly the slate flooring and the original slate salting slab, really sets this kitchen apart. From the kitchen you can enjoy those amazing views and soak in the private, hydrotherapy Jacuzzi hot tub before snuggling down to a cosy night around the wood burner. Every bedroom has unique en-suite facilities, with the master bedroom offering luxurious comfort with a four poster kingsize bed and whirlpool bath. There is also a large private outdoor swimming pool located between the patio and the Orchard, within the grounds.

A 20-minute stroll and you are in the square of the seaside village of Ferryside, which was originally a ferry crossing on the Pilgrim’s Road to Llansteffan. Ferryside was once the heart of the Welsh cockling industry and still has a good number of locals harvesting these tasty shellfish. The village boasts a pub with local ales and live music, a renowned fish and chip restaurant specialising in locally sourced, home cooked food, a small general store, Post Office, railway station and a fantastic beach to explore with your family, build sandcastles, explore rock pools or relax and take in the views.

A couple of miles over the hill, the ancient town of Kidwelly is really worth a visit. Here you will find the historic Kidwelly Castle, teaming with history and one of the finest preserved Norman castles in Wales. Travelling east along the coastline, Pembrey Country Park boasts 500 acres to discover and ramble, with its extensive woodland, dry ski slope, toboggan run and miles of golden sandy beach, ideal for all ages. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

“It was a horrible wet afternoon when we arrived at the barn, but that was soon forgotten because of the warm sunny smiles of Keith and Lesley waiting in the rain to welcome us. Wheelwright barn was everything we wanted, the pool, and hot tub was a big hit with all the family. The welcome tray was a lovely bonus, the honey was delicious.”

“We have had a fabulous week at Wheelwright Barn. While some credit must go to the excellent company, and the fantastic weather, the rest must go to the lovely location, the much appreciated pool and hot tub, and of course the Barn itself. Plenty of space for the 8 of us to celebrate, relax, eat and drink, and totally escape from the rest of the world. Keith and Lesley made us so welcome, and provided everything we needed, and more. Having the pool to ourselves was great, and we really were able to make use of it with the weather being so good. The hot tub was an instant hit, and a real treat. Inside was really comfortable, and top marks for sharp kitchen knives one thing holiday rentals usually lack. Keith and Lesley have put together a superb environment, which makes a holiday in the area a delight.”

“Had a lovely holiday, cottage is fantastic lovely view across estuary, made good use of the hot tub and bbq, the garden was great for Easter egg race, cricket and ball games kept a 5 year old very happy, plenty of places in local area to visit castles, country parks and beaches, my grandson loved looking for crabs and fish on the estuary which was in walking distance.”

“Excellent communication before the holiday and a lovely friendly welcome upon arrival. The barn is a lovely conversion and has everything you need. We were two families for the weekend and the boys loved the pool. For the rest of the week it was just the 2 of us and the barn was still perfect and felt homely. During the week we were blessed with some amazing weather allowing us to enjoy the pool, the views and just relax. As the weather changed so did the views , sat in the hot tub, watching the migrating birds, the kites and buzzards hovering or just turning out the lights to see so many stars. All in all a great holiday, in a lovely barn, in a stunning location run by an amazing couple.”
