One half of the property is taken up with an enormous conservatory, stylishly designed and furnished to complement the garden surroundings, while the other half houses a high-quality kitchen, shower room and double bedroom.

All guests have access to the owners’ large enclosed walled garden, hard tennis court and small putting green. The idyllic peaceful surroundings are complemented by a structured walled garden and other features, including a rose garden intersected by pathways to meander through and stop to enjoy the scents of summer.

“A deceptively spacious cottage in a beautiful garden. An excellent base from which to explore Angus.”
— HARDIE, 4 April 2022
“Grieve's Cottage was a charming and comfy place to spend a week. The location is great quiet and felt remote but only a couple of miles from the town with an easy drive in. The nature reserve is just across the road and one of the walks starts almost outside the gate. There are plenty of other attractions nearby so lots to see and do. The cottage itself is spacious for 2 people, has a comfy bed and a very well equipped kitchen. I appreciated the welcome pack and all the information about the cottage and the grounds. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and hope to return myself in the future.”

“Lovely cottage a real home from home. Plenty of space for two and a big dog!”
— Lindsay, 10 February 2022
“Set in lovely grounds, Grieves Cottage is an absolute gem, warm, cosy and beautifully presented, it was a wonderful place to stay. We enjoyed reading about the history of the cottages and their renovation and the owners should be very proud of what they have achieved. Even in the depths of winter, the gardens are lovely and hold so much promise for the spring and summer. Just a few minutes walk away from the Montrose Basin, it is a convenient base for anyone interested in wildlife, particularly the thousands of geese which overwinter there. Although there aren't many amenities close by (part of it's charm), Montrose and it's shops are a short drive away, as is the SWT reserve, which is well worth a visit. We appreciated, and enjoyed the welcome gifts and the friendliness of the owners. We had a fabulous few days (we even had glorious weather) and are already planning our next stay thank you for a memorable holiday!”

“Our second visit to Old Montrose a fabulous select of unique cottages, last time we stayed at the Gasworks (sleeps 6) which was excellent. This time we choose Grieve Cottage (sleeps 2) and was not disappointed. This wonderful cosy high spec cottage had plenty of room and spotless with wonderful gardens. If you like luxury, a place to relaxing, with a cosy feel, with gardens this is for you. This Gem will not disappoint and will be booking again for next year.”

“The reviews we read before booking were absolutely true. The cottage was fantastic and very roomy for two Very nice decor. Nice welcome pack. Very helpful and friendly owners and Merlin the dog. But for us what really sold it was the fabulous dog friendly garden. A joy to walk the dog We didnt even get to use the tennis court or putting green on this occasion but will do next time. Nearby beaches brilliant , lovely meal at the creek inn Catterline , nice woodland walks at the House of Dun and a very worthwhile visit to the visiter center at the Montrose basin. Would love to visit in another season though Christmas and new year must be special too. Thanks so much for a great break”
