Campbeltown is one of a handful of areas in Scotland categorised as a whisky producing region, and is home to the Campbeltown Single Malt, at one point having 34 distilleries and proclaiming itself the whisky capital of the world. The town boasts two distilleries as well as a museum, heritage centre and a harbour, with an annual regatta and music festival. The town is well-served, with supermarkets, independently owned shops, and excellent hotels and restaurants offering the finest local produce. The surrounding area is well-known for its fine beaches, unspoilt countryside and scenic walks, with the addition of the Kintyre Way, making this an ideal location from which to explore the Kintyre Peninsula. Lying just off the west coast of Kintyre, the Isle of Gigha offers a pleasant day trip. Within a short distance, there are many quiet and sandy beaches to explore and there is easy access to the Isles of Islay, Arran and Jura. Jura is one of the wildest and most mountainous of the Inner Hebrides. Islay is great for wildlife enthusiasts, as it boasts a large RSPB reserve, a wintering population of barnacle and white-fronted geese, and a wildlife information centre. For the outdoor enthusiast, there is walking, cycling, fishing and water sports. Beach ¾ mile. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.

“What a fabulous eco house to get away from it allSuperbly fitted out with nice touches of local produce when you arrive. Sauna for those chilly nights, of which we were so lucky and did not have. If you do there are blankets to wrap up in and sit out by the fire pit star gazing. Picnic equipment provided, logs for the wood burner. All just perfect. Book for a bit longer than you think as you will not want to leave”

“We spent a fabulous four nights at High Trodigal last week. The accommodation was exactly as it was described and provided us with the perfect base for a few days of taking it easy. We enjoyed miles of Machrihanish beach walks and muddy forest hikes during the day and then made the most of the sauna and wonderful spa bath before relaxing in front of the log stove in the evening. Our puppy, Albert, loved the time away with us, with all the walks and attention, and he enjoyed the views as much as we did. Highly recommend.”

“Fabulous sums it up.With COVID still high on agenda it was great to get away from it all.Self contained accommodation with all needs catered for. Partner liked the star gazing pack, although typically skies werent suitable during our stay. Both jacuzzi bath and sauna were a lovely touch and having a decent shower was ace too.I enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, the open planned nature meant I had company and views.Highly recommend property anytime of year.”
