Guest Comments

"Really nice well equipped and comfortable cottage. Location great, close to town centre, but far enough away to be nice and quiet. Great views over the river from the garden/patio. We are regular visitors to Kirkcudbright and will definitely stay again."

Paul, August 2021

"A wonderful cottage with everything you could possibly need. Owners Andy and Kathleen live next door so they are on hand if you should need them. The cottage was extremely clean, comfy bed, quiet, kitchen extremely well equipped and a very good location for visiting places. We loved it so much we have already booked for next year. Would highly recommend."

Catherine, August 2021

"We had a fabulous time at Hameish Cottage. The facilities were excellent and the hosts were onsite and extremely friendly and went out of their way to help us. The location of the cottage was perfect. Overall, we had a lovely holiday."

Sharron, August 2021

"Clean, well maintained, well equipped and convenient for Kurkcudbright and surrounding Dumfries and Galloway areas"

Deborah, July 2021

"Very comfortable cottage on the outskirts of Kircudbright which has good amenities and is a good centre for exploring Galloway. The only comments are that there are 2 steep steps(mentioned on website) up from the kitchen to the lounge area which could be a challenge for disabled visitors and the instructions for finding the vehicle entrance to the property were not entirely clear, at least to us"

Ian, July 2021

"Very comfortable and clean cottage . everything we needed was provided for, including a useful welcome pack. It was clean and comfortable. The cottage was ideally placed for exploring the area."

Michael, July 2021

"We enjoyed a lovely week staying at Hameish Cottage. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. The owners were welcoming and helpful. It was ideally located to walk into the town centre and to explore this part of Scotland. We would definitely return one day."

Alison, June 2021

"Hameish Cottage is everything you would want a holiday cottage to be. Very comfortable and well equipped. Cottage was spotlessly clean including the oven. Andy was very welcoming and helpful. The property is close enough to walk into Kirkcudbright, about 15 minutes along the Riverside path. You can also walk along the Riverside in the other direction with great views looking back towards Kirkcudbright.Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would recommend the cottage to family and friends if they were holidaying in the area."

Jean, June 2021

"Lovely, clean, modern and well equipped cottage in a quiet location yet only a 15 min stroll to the town centre which you can access by walking along the riverside or walking along the main road. Friendly, yet not intruding, owner who greeted us warmly and answered question about the local area before and during the holiday. Good information provided about the workings of the cottage and local amenities. We were 2 couples , 1 had the en-suite and the other the twin with the bathroom next door. Lovely weather so we enjoyed sitting in the garden area having a drink and looking over to the river the birds including the Red Kite. Kirkcudbright is a nice base for exploring the area, the Co-op and Tesco were suitably equipped, shame we didn’t try the award wining local butcher though we did try one in Castle Douglas which was lovely, the Harbour Lights cafe ( big portions) was nice for lunch, Masonic Arms good for a drink (you need to reserve a table we hadn’t but we were lucky at 5 pm on a Fri but had to sit outside) with the Selkirk Arms very good for a lovely meal on our last evening. Liked the small craft shops and enjoyed the exhibition (free) on the Glasgow Boys and Girls in the Art Centre, which had, what looked like, a lovely cafe."

"Hameish Holiday Cottage was an excellent choice for us. It is within easy access of Kirkcudbright and provided the perfect base for exploring the area by bicycle, or in our case, tandem (secure storage provided for two tandems). The owners live on site and were there if we needed anything, which we didn't as everything had been thought of. The cottage was spotless and very well laid out. The double bedroom has an ensuite and the second bedroom (a twin) has the sole use of the bathroom. It isn't unusual when staying at a holiday cottage to come across something which is missing, or which could be improved, but I honestly can't fault the cottage in any way at all.We 'ate in' most evenings but visited the Kircudbright Bay Hotel on one occasion for an evening meal as they had just opened up again following the lifting of lockdown restrictions in May 2021. Very friendly staff and lovely meal.Hameish Holiday Cottage is the perfect base for exploring the area and we fully intend on returning in 2022."

Stephen, June 2021

"A beautiful cottage clean, well equipped and warm. The owners could not be more helpful especially with local amenities . The extras they provided were much appreciated especially the bird feeder. Hope to return in the future."

"We had a wonderful relaxing stay in this lovely cottage . Hamiesh cottage is equipped to a high standard, exceptionally clean and warm. The cottage sits in well maintained gardens with lovely views over the river and is very handy for exploring Kirkcubright and the surrounding area. The owners who live nearby were very friendly, helpful and informative . Can't wait to revisit and would highly recommend this great cottage."
