With sailing, swimming, horse riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is sure to be something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust) at Castle Douglas and further afield, the world-renowned Logan Botanic Gardens. Close to the Galloway Forest Park, home to the first Dark Sky Park in the UK, and central to 5 of the 7Stanes, it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers. Take a short drive along the coast to Kippford, a charming sailing village which has 2 pubs on the waterfront. Beach ½ mile. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
