Bishopsteignton is a large village, on the banks of the Teign Estuary. The River Teign is about 30 miles long from where it rises on Dartmoor, near Cranmere Pool, west of Chagford, and reaching the sea at Teignmouth, on the south Devon coast. There are many coastal and river walks well worth enjoying, as well as Dartmoor which is a short drive away. Teignmouth is about 2 miles away, and can be seen from the lodge. It has a classic crescent of Georgian buildings, promenade, pier and a long sandy beach. It is a real hidden gem on the south Devon coast and is both an historic port and classic seaside holiday resort. With traditional seaside attractions all around, you do not need to venture far to keep everyone entertained. There are two distinct sides to Teignmouth – the sea front and the harbour side. Then take a ferry across to Shaldon which is quieter, and has many cafés, restaurants and a sandy beach. There is a nature reserve at Labrador Bay and also a small zoo in Shaldon. There are many NT properties close by. A trip to Dartmoor is also a great day out, with its tors, ponies, vast expanse of moorland and little hidden villages where a Devon cream tea is all part of the holiday. Beach 2 miles. Shop 400 yards, pub 330 yards and restaurant 500 yards.

Guest Comments

"We had a restful weekend at Teign View cottage, and enjoyed brilliant Autumn weather. We had a bit of trouble with the stairs, for night time looing but we are in our 70’s and knew about this in advance. I was slightly alarmed when we managed to burn toast which did not pop up in the toaster, and the smoke alarm did not go off although there was a lot of smoke. As the upstairs sleeping accommodation would be a death trap if there were a fire, I think this needs checking."

"Very well presented and well equipped. Bedroom a bit of a squeeze but quite manageable. Supermarket close by and a couple of nice pubs. Good position for exploring Devon."

Please bear in mind property owners/agents are dealing with an unprecedented level of demand for holidays at the moment, which is making them slower than normal to reply to enquiries and answer calls. They may also be operating a priority system with enquiries for coming weeks being answered first. This being said, they are all committed to answering every enquiry as soon as they are able to.

COVID-19 Information

This information is provided by the property's owner or manager and is relevant to this property ONLY:

"You will be able to choose any one of the following three options if we or the accommodation provider cancel your booking, or if you cancel your booking because UK government public health measures mean that it is unlawful to travel to or make use of the accommodation you booked:
Full refund - we will refund you the full amount you have paid for your booking.
Transfer to a later date or different accommodation - subject to availability, we will help you move your booking to a later date or even a new location or accommodation with no admin fees, but please be aware that if the cost of your new accommodation is higher than your original booking, then you’ll need to pay the difference.
Choose an e-voucher to rebook your holiday online - you can request an e-voucher for the amount you have previously paid for your booking. You can then use it to book a new holiday online or towards another existing booking, without having to call us. Vouchers issued in 2020 are valid until 31st December 2020 and can be used on holidays departing before 31st December 2021.
Plus, to give our customers the added flexibility they need at this time, for any bookings with arrival dates on or before 31 December 2020, the following applies:
Pay for your 2020 break just 3 weeks before you go - to give you more time to pay for your holiday during these uncertain times, we’ve moved the balance due date for bookings with arrival dates up to 31st December 2020 to just 21 days before your holiday is due to start. If you choose to cancel your holiday before your balance due date, then we will waive your liability for the remainder of the balance and no further amount will be collected from you. If you choose to cancel on or after your balance due date, then you will need to pay the cancellation charges (according to the number of days before the start of your holiday) as set out in the cancellation charges table which you can find in your booking conditions, as well as any applicable booking fees, admin charges or insurance premiums that you owe. See booking conditions here.
*If you have booked a property that is stated to sleep 10 people or more and your booking begins between 1 September and 31 December 2020, your balance due date will remain at 12 weeks prior to the holiday start date as set out in the booking conditions."
