Bigbury-on-Sea is located within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, lapped by shallow waters, with a stunning beach that offers safe swimming, as well as being dotted with rock pools for exploring, so is very popular with families. Enjoy a selection of watersports, including windsurfing and kite-surfing, with hire facilities located right on the beach. Lifeguards are present at Bigbury-on-Sea Beach during peak season (May to September) and the beach is pet-friendly, although they are restricted to certain areas during the summer. Burgh Island, Bigbury’s most famous landmark, overlooks the beach and is accessible at low tide, or at high tide you can hop on the unique ‘sea tractor’. Burgh Island boasts an award-winning hotel, which has had many famous guests over the eyars and boasts an art deco feel.
