It also has a well-stocked village shop with attached tea room and bistro, all of which are within easy walking distance of the cottage. There is a slipway where a small boat or dinghy can be launched, and also tennis courts. Nearby, there are interesting and historic towns and villages. Inveraray is the closest town. Oban, known as the ’Gateway to the Isles’, with its colourful harbour, and the dramatic mountains of Glencoe, near Fort William are scenic day excursions. In a different direction, the Kyles of Bute are nearby and in yet another direction, you pass through the mountainous scenery of the National Park to Loch Lomond with its cruise boats. Wildlife is abundant, there are some glorious gardens to visit and there are plenty of outdoor pursuits including walking and cycling. Shop/bistro 1/4 mile, hotel pub 1/2 mile.

Guest Comments

"Stunning views from the cottage. Very clean, well equipped and modern. Cottage information states there are 4 steps to the door, we found that the steep drive would also have been difficult for anyone with mobility problems."

"Stunning cottage in a stunning location. Tigh An Uillt is very well equipped, everything has been thought of to make guests welcome and comfortable during their stay.Ideal spot to venture further afield or just to stay and enjoy the fabulous views. The picture windows in the lounge or front bedroom overlook Loch Fyne and beyond. Watch out for the variety of birds on the bird feeders and other wildlife in the garden to the rear of the cottage. We spotted Hedgehog(s) and a fox as well as a little mouse. Our second stay here in 9 months, doubt very much if it will be our last.Tip: We drove to Fort William to ride the popular Jacobite steam train (of Harry Potter fame) to Mallaig - recommend booking well in advance to ensure seats. We booked in April for June!!"

John, June 2019

"Really nice cottage, lovely views, plenty of wildlife (saw sea otter from front window and pine marten in back garden, as well as seals, and loads of birds). Cottage is well equipped with benefit of very good broadband and freesat TV. Whilst others have commented on steepness of drive, we didn't find it a problem even though my wife is partially disabled. You do have to be careful emerging onto the road though as traffic seems to ignore the speed limit. The local bistro/shop/post office is very friendly and helpful and they do excellent coffee and scones. We found the Whistlefield Inn on the Dunoon Road a lovely place to eat - reasonable prices and lovely views. Overall we really liked staying here and may return in future."

Terence, May 2019

"First class accommodation. The house was well equipped."

Jim, March 2019

"A warm, comfortable little holiday home, with everything we could wish for. The winter season meant some of the local restaurants were closed, but the information in the cottage was helpful. Beautiful scenery and views from the cottage picture windows."

Anne , February 2019

"A lovely house with beautiful views over Loch Fyne. Really easy to get to great walks and places to eat. Plenty of helpful information in the house to help plan days out."

Ian, January 2019

"The accommodation is perfectly located on the shores of Loch Fyne with views across to the mountains and a few 100 metres from the main road; so it has solitude but without the need to travel miles to get to a main road for trips out. All rooms were surprisingly spacious, tastefully decorated and homely. The log burner provides amazing heat to ensure a nice cosy evening, the electric storage heaters were surprisingly efficient providing a good level of background heating. The kitchen is well appointed with all appliances and utensils that you would expect. A village store/restaurant and a pub are within walking distance. We had a fantastic holiday and this accommodation suited us perfectly. We would definately stay here again and would recommend others too also."

Carl, November 2018

"Fantastic cottage in a superb location with windows overlooking Loch Fyne (weather was the only let down). managed to get out and about visiting Fort William, Inveraray (prison) , Isle of Seil, Oban to name a few.Cottage fully equipped with all the essentials. Enjoyed so much booked again for June 2019 - better weather hopefully."
