These two very comfortable semi-detached holiday cottages (26817 and 26818) occupy a stunning elevated position on a mixed working farm on the headland just outside the beautiful village of Pennan. Both properties boast fantastic sea views; Mill Shore Cottage has a cosy living room which features windows on two sides allowing uninterrupted viewing of Mill Shore below – a secluded shingle beach with sandy shallows beyond, offering a unique perspective on the abundant marine life – seals can be spotted easily in the bay, whilst further out whales and dolphins are often sighted. Pennan Lodge again has marvellous views of Pennan itself and the bay beyond. In addition to the amazing marine life, just round the corner and visible from the cottages is Troup Head, a renowned nature reserve featuring the only UK mainland colony of gannets. Next door is Cullykhan Beach, another secluded cove reached by a steep walk down to the shore. Pennan is renowned for its famous phone box as featured in the film ’Local Hero’ but it is a lovely village in its own right, typical of those strung out along this rugged coastline, including Crovie and Gardenstown, reached by steep winding roads to the bottom of the cliffs from which they cling. This is an AONB providing wonderful areas for walking. Shop and restaurant 4 miles, pub ¼ mile.

"Fantastic! Perfect holiday, perfect location. Beautiful scenery. Excellent cottage. Well resourced. Clean. Very comfortable. About the only thing was could do with more tins for the oven! You do need a car as the local amenities where a few miles away, but that is the point for the wonderful remote location! Fabulous experience and would highly recommend. Will come again -Thanks"

"Mill Shore cottage suits us well. We don’t mind not being close to local amenities. It’s a very quiet location with wonderful views. I don’t think kids would find it as charming as we do. It’s a good holiday for a week but I’m glad it’s not a fortnight as I’d start to miss the amenities. Fraserburgh has little charm and Covid means things are quite restricted. It’s a wonderful cottage to get away from it all. The value for money is good especially for a school holiday period although that’s not a consideration for us. I hope the 0900 departure on the final day is lifted as it means a very early rise on the last day of your holiday."

"Great little cottage with awesome veiws made better by have windows wrapped around the living room. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes walking and taking in the veiws esp with your camera or phones camera. We loved it all even though its in the middle of nowhere... Stunning!"

"Lovely week at Mill Shore Cottage - my daughter and were impressed with the cottage, the location and the friendliness of everyone we met. Bonus was the weather which, for most of the week, was sunny. We had taken bikes but, although using locally, a lot of the area has steep roads. Fine for daughter but I am slightly older!!! However, for experienced cyclists a great area to explore. Pennan itself, Gardenstown, RSPB reserve at Troup Head,, MacDuff and Banff all close. The bay just below the cottage has a lovely little Pottery which also serves coffee, ice cream etc."

"We booked for a week, but extended our stay by a five days as the cottage was comfortable and local scenery was great. There is a garden and outside clothes drying facilities. Didn't use the tumble dryer. Lovely views all around. The cottage was warm and comfortable. It is more suitable for a party of 2 or a family of 2 adults and 2 children. It suited our purposes as a couple. There is a modern bathroom and a good cooker, fridge freezer and washing machine.Covid guidelines are being followed and we understand that high touch items have been removed, but items such as a few J-Cloths, bleach and more than one toilet roll would have been appreciated. The property is run as a business and there was no contact with the owner, except an initial phone call to arrange entry. That said, we did extend our stay and we would return."

"Lovely cottage, in a quiet location with awesome views.First trip away after lockdown - just what we needed. You can buy ice cream/tea/coffee at the bottom of the hill, but otherwise no local amenities - but we weren't expecting any."
