Reviews

“We were looking for a short break by the coast in a cottage away from the crowds with a safe garden for our 8month old puppy and Buzzards View was exactly that. Surrounded by fields, all you can hear are the birds and sheep. The owners were lovely and live in the large house behind the cottage, so would be on hand should any issues arise, although we had none, and kindly provided some milk and eggs as a welcome gift. The upsidedown cottage is very well equipped and tastefully furnished and it was great to wake up in the ground floor bedroom, open the door and step straight outside onto the large patio which led to a fenced garden area, perfect for the pup to roam around or chase a ball, and you can see the sea from the upstairs lounge window. It was a 5 minute drive to Kingswear, easy to catch the Lower Ferry over to Dartmouth. Numerous dogfriendly beaches near by, with the best being on the Dartmouth side such as Strete Gate Beach just past Blackpool Sands. The cottage's location also makes it easy to visit Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. There are no shops close by but there are numerous supermarkets in Paignton so this wasn't a problem for us. The TV is not Sky, as reported in the blurb, but Freeview so still plenty of channels to choose from if you just want to flop down with a glass of wine in the evenings after a day of walking and sightseeing, or there's a DVD player you can use. Overall we had a lovely break and would recommend Buzzards View with no hesitation.”

“What a beautiful cottage! We had the most perfect week here with our dog; incredibly comfortable home from home in a gorgeous part of Devon with the most wonderful garden and views. Really lovely hosts, who we knew where always close by if we needed them, but who didn't interfere or get in our way at all. They also left fresh eggs, milk and biscuits on arrival, which we were very grateful for. The house is spotlessly clean and so well equipped with everything you might need, and is decorated in such a lovely and comfortable way. The garden is completely private and enclosed, our dog absolutely loved exploring it, and the BBQ is a lovely addition with charcoal provided. We had no worries at all about letting the dog outside without us, it felt completely safe and secure. The location is just beautiful, fab views of rolling hills and completely surrounded by wildlife. Sheep, chickens, horses and a whole host of different birds (swallows, house martins, yellow hammers and of course buzzards!). Really lovely and quiet dogfriendly beaches only a few minutes drive away, sandy with interesting rock pools to explore. The beaches are a bit of a steep walk from the car parks, but totally worth it for almost having an entire beach to yourself! The South West Coast path is easily accessible too for some great walks and Coleton Fishacre (National Trust) is walkable from the house and also has dog friendly paths to explore. Shops and amenities only a short 1015 minute drive away, and Dartmouth is a good day out if you take the ferry accross the river. All in all, by far the best property we have ever stayed in, making this one of the best holidays we have ever had. The home from home feel, the private and beautiful outdoor space, and the calm rural location really made this place 1010.If you are not sure whether or not to book this property... I urge you to book it! It will be well worth it.”

“Amazing place to live for a week. Better than a holiday it was home from home. Wonderful experience . There are no local to shops (lots of supermarkets on the way in about 8 miles away ) but we knew this and took everything required so not a problem at all for us but thought I would mention it to help you with your holiday planning . Also massive tip , don't use Google maps when planning costal paths we found out the hard way it's does the route as the crow flies so our stunning 4 mile walk turned into a very stunning but tiring 9.5 mile walk from the cottage lol ?”

“Local amenities etc rated high. There isnt anything nearby but the description is very clear about this. Fantastic views, easy access to coastal and countryside walks, well equipped kitchen and very comfortable beds. Only negative is the sofas which really are very uncomfortable.”
