The location of this lovely cottage is sublime. A quintessential fisherman’s cottage, the property has been restored to provide luxury, contemporary and tastefully furnished, self-catering accommodation yet still maintaining some of the character within a unique setting. There has been a fisherman’s cottage on this location since the 16th-century and the original building fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1908 and not rebuilt until 1918 after the Great War. The family who built the new fisherman’s cottage were from St Andrews, hence the name. The old hooks where the fishing nets were hung to dry are still on the wall in the back garden, which is now a sunny courtyard and ideal for enjoying the summer sun with a glass of wine. The old wash house still has the old sink and is great for cleaning sports equipment or rinsing the sand off your buckets and spades. Within the cottage you will find it is beautifully presented with much thought, care and attention to the finer details. Both spacious double bedrooms are en-suite, and on the ground floor there is also a large storage cupboard to store your golf equipment. The open plan living space on the first floor captures the amazing sea views to enable guests to enjoy watching the fishing boats entering and leaving the picturesque harbour, and the fish market in the morning where the local fishermen sell their catch. If fish is on your menu you can purchase freshly caught fish and prepare that special meal in the well-equipped kitchen.

From your front door you can walk to the local inn, fish and chip shop, restaurants, chocolate shop and café, local bakers shop and an interesting array of artist galleries. Explore the quaint lanes and wynds of this historic fishing village and find St Fillan’s cave in Cove Wynd, which was used as a chapel by St Fillan in the 700s. Pittenweem Arts Festival held at the beginning of August is a very popular event. The Fife Coastal Path passes through the village and is ideal for exploring the coast on foot to picturesque fishing villages and beautiful sandy beaches and coves. This area is famous for golf and St Andrews with its championship courses is within 10 miles, as are more than twenty other local courses so you will be spoilt for choice. With historic buildings, whisky distillery, museums and visitor attractions and boat trips to the Isle of May to see the wild birds, St Andrews in Pittenweem is the perfect location for all ages to explore this area of Fife. Edinburgh 45 miles. Perth 40 miles. Dundee 23 miles. Beach 120 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub 50 yards, restaurant 10 yards.

“This is an excellent cottage and in 30 years of visiting cottages probably the best we have ever stayed in. Cottage had exceptional facilities and was well appointed. Location and view out to the harbour were second to none.”

“we were blown away with this property, we stay in a lot of cottages up & down the country & this is one of the best. It is just gorgeous. Fantastic location with the East Fife coastal path on your doorstep & St Andrews a mere 10 miles away, perfect. The house was gorgeous, upstairs living so you enjoy the views of a working harbour, pub 50 yds away serving great food & a seafood restaurant next door. The house had everything you needed, the beds were comfy, the showers great we loved it. The owner is a gent as well, one of our party left some valuables behind which he very kindly packaged up & returned, a true gent with an amazing property.”

“My husband and I have just had a 4 night stay at St Andrews and it is the most stunning holiday house weve ever stayed. The standard of furnishings and decor was top notch but it was still homely, comfortable and very cosy. Both bedrooms were very roomy and light. One even has a sofa in it. Very well equipped throughout, both bedrooms have hairdryers although they were not listed. We will definitely be back next year .”

“Practically nothing to complain about brilliant location, accommodation was very clean and well appointed. The only little issue we had was that the tv is in such a dumb place either swap it with the picture above the fire place or put it on a stand next to the fireplace. As it stands it is difficult to watch from the lovely and comfy sofas. We never tired of watching the view over the harbour, particularly around late afternoon when the fishing boats return with their catch. We had never visited that area of Scotland before but will definitely be returning. A good base for exploring further too.”

“St Andrew's harbour house in Pittenweem felt like a real find. The house was warm and comfortable, well laid out with 2 ensuite double bedrooms on the ground floor and livingdiningcooking space with further toilet and utility upstairs. The decor was tasteful and attractive and the layout of the living space upstairs made the most of the view. The appliances and kitchen equipment were all good quality. The real star however was the view of the harbour. From the front windows you have I'd say the best view in Pittenweem for watching the fishing boats come and go as well as the gulls, ducks, herons and occasionally seals! It was also lovely to have views of the ever changing sea and sky. I would and will recommend this rental to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway on a charming stretch of Fife coastline.”
