"Spectacular setting, peaceful and tranquill. Stunning views. Deer and rabbits in garden. Seals in the bay. Good base to explore Sutherland and Caithness views from the roads of countryside and hills with wildlfe. Excellent didn't want to leave."

"What a fabulous place and what a wonderful stay we had. The view and sunrises at this aptly named cottage were spectacular even on rainy days. The cottage had everything we could have wanted or needed during our stay and we were sad to leave. Will definitely be going back as I don't think the cottage or location could be bettered. Loved every minute."

"A return visit - first time we’ve ever rebooked the same cottage which probably says it all. Gorgeous cottage, spotlessly clean, well equipt and comfortable in a beautiful private setting with stunning views across the sea.Lots of great walking for us and the dog from the cottage and further afield. Local amenities within walking distance. The local deer popped by each evening and were a pleasure to watch from the living room windows. We will return again, if you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing, away from it all week then this is the place for you."

Alison, October 2018

"Wow. Loved Sunrise. Huge house with every amenity and spotless. Every room had things to discover. The hall was so big you could play table tennis ( provided) large master bedroom with ensuite shower. Second twin room with separate bathroom. Large fully equipped kitchen. Log flire in loungeHouse is on a private narrow drive up a steep hill which was a little tricky Overlooks the sea with dramatic views in the storm We have 4 deer appear in the gardenHelmsdale is very quiet. A great place for exploring the highlands and beyond"

"Sunrise was an excellent choice for our holiday;its location, accessibility, comfort and excellent standard of cleanliness were of the highest order in meeting our requirements. The quality of the fixtures and fittings in all the rooms was exceptional and we could find nothing that would have made our stay any better. Excellent outside space. The views were spectacular with beautiful sunrises and views across the bay and out to sea. Good location for exploring further afield and up and down the coastline were many quaint harbours bringing you right down to the sea edge.Lots of wildlife visiting the garden every day; loved the family of deer who were regular nightly visitors. Local pubs and restaurants serving good local produce and many places of interest in the region for us to visit."

"We've taken a week's holiday in various highland cottages for the last 6 years, the last 3 in the Brora and Helmsdale areas. Sunrise cottage is one of, if not, the best. The view from the cottage is spectacular and the cottage itself has all the necessities you need for a home from home. There was a basket of logs for the burner, which we didn't actually use, but was a nice touch. We covered a few of the trails including the Helmsdale circuit which, although overgrown in places, is still worth the walk. Isla, our eight year old Weimaraner, loved everywhere we went and we knew she was safe around the cottage because of the enclosed garden.Thank you Kathy and Frank for the use of your beautiful cottage."

George, August 2018

"Absolutely fabulous place to stay, one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Frank the owner informs you prior to your arrival of everything you need to know about the cottage and area. Should you have any issues or questions he is just a phone call away. The cottage has everything you need and the most wonderful views."

Michelle, August 2018

"From the moment we reached the gates of Sunrise we all drew in our breaths, and our dog, Rosie, started to whimper desperately to explore the garden. What a magical place on a hilltop in Navidale! Unforgettable scenery that seems to float to infinity. We didn’t see the dolphins that many previous tenants have had the privilege to encounter, which was a little disappointing, but this did not ruin our enjoyment. Sunrise is a peaceful, tranquil place where you really can get away from it all. Sitting on the bench in the front garden and staring out to sea was so relaxing and a sight appreciated by our Rosie, too. It was her daily ritual with the French doors open, a soft breeze blowing in through the lounge. She absolutely loved it. Sunrise had everything to offer in the way of quiet, peace, beauty, relaxation, entertainment and was well-stocked with household items needed for daily use. The cottage is well kept, clean and in a perfect location. Our thanks to Frank for all his advice before we arrived and his approachable manner if we needed anything during our stay. Five stars!"

Alexandra, August 2018

"Best equiped cottage we ever had! Superbe view!"

Joris, July 2018

"Well appointed comfortable cottage. Views were spectacular and ever changing with the weather.Disappointed with local walks to take a dog on. Farm gates were chained and padlocked, local footpaths were overgrown and in some cases impassable. Most walks from the house involved negotiating the busy A9 road.Paucity of local eating places."

Robert, July 2018

"We had a great holiday at Sunrise. Lovely house and location. The view of the A9 (which we couldn’t hear) going up over the hill invited us to explore. This we did and throughly enjoyed it. The house was a great base and comfortable to return to after our journeys. We would certainly return here."

Sandra, July 2018

"This is an absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location where the owners have truly thought of everything. The place was spotlessly clean and the owners and caretaker couldn't have done more for us. I just wish I could have stayed longer."

Janet, June 2018

"Excellent location for views and exploring North Scotland"

Richard, June 2018

"Exceptional property with amazing, ever changing vistas. Caring helpfully owners, and the excellent handover of information made us feel as though we belonged! It exceeded all our expectations. Thank you Kathy and Frank."

Linda, May 2018

"Although I can sometimes be a little too critical on reviews it has to be acknowledged that this is the best ever self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. From its outstanding location perched on the hillside overlooking the bay and hills to the facilities and amenities within the cottage we could not find fault. The property itself is very spacious with good sized rooms throughout and well designed. It has all the equipment and more to ensure an excellent stay and make it the perfect home from home. The little things like the ornaments, artefacts and paintings make for a homely feel whilst relaxing .... nothing better than looking out over the bay from the patio doors with a glass in hand. The cottages location gives good access to tour the local area,South to Dornoch and Dunrobin castle,North to John o Groats and Wick and even further afield to Durness and cape wrath are all within reach. We both thoroughly enjoyed our week away at this cottage as did our dog who was able to roam freely in the large fenced in secure garden. We were also fortunate with the weather so had no complaints at all . The village of Helmsdale is about a twenty minute walk away along the main road and our only slight disappointment was that the village itself did not have a lot to offer. However in summary this is a property which is well worth considering if you are looking for a relaxing break in excellent, clean ,well cared for and spacious accommodation and we will certainly consider using it again in the future...To be recommended"
