A steep terraced garden accessed from the 2nd floor of the house is ideal for sunbathing, as a picnic area and for more great views. The Admiral’s House is centrally located for Ilfracombe’s main attractions. There are friendly pubs and restaurants, including Damien Hirst’s The Quay (opposite side of harbour), and shops, cafes within a few minutes’ stroll. There are local boats for trips and fishing; for special experiences, the summer Lundy Island ferry runs from the harbour, sometimes the famous Waverly Paddle Steamer offers coastal cruises. The Admirals’ House is a
5-minute walk to the Landmark Theatre; the path at the front of the house is the start of the coastal path leading to Hillsborough Nature Reserve and the coves of Reparee and Larksdown. Hele beach is a short walk, or there is paddling on the sandy beach just below the window. A great base for touring - surfing at Croyd and Woolacombe; cream teas at many gardens, NT properties; unspoilt Exmoor; the Victorian cliff railway at Lynton and Lynmouth; many mini theme parks within a short drive. Returning to the harbourside holiday apartment, fishing boats can be seen landing their catch, and crab and lobster can be bought for supper! Shops 100 yards. . "Brilliant break just to be able to sit in a quiet spot immediately overlooking the harbour and the sea beyond whilst watching the cycle of the tides through the various windows is very therapeutic. The comfortable apartment on the top floor of this historic grade 2 listed building is ideal for two with a good size lounge and bedroom all overlooking the harbour and sea whilst the dining area, the well equipped kitchen and the ensuite bathroom face the large terraced garden at the back. The apartment reflects well on the friendly owners, Debs and Alastair, who do all they can to please whilst seeking to ensure that the accommodation is well maintained and equipped to a high standard. From this location everything in the town is within a short stroll. We would recommend considering contacting the Tourist Information in advance to get a parking permit as free parking in the road immediately outside is limited."
