Wroxham is often referred to as the ‘Capital of the Broads’ and is the ideal base from which to explore the Norfolk Broads. Famous as the home of the Broads hire-boat industry since Victorian times, you can rent a day boat to explore the waterways on your doorstep with many cottages offering a private mooring where you can keep a boat for the duration of your stay. There are plenty of places to hire a boat in the village. A short boat trip will take you to Wroxham Broad where you can watch the unique traditional Norfolk sailing yachts racing, many dating back to the mid 1900's.

Wroxham is actually made up of two villages – ‘Wroxham’ and ‘Hoveton’, separated by the river Bure which is spanned by the famous 17th Century Wroxham Bridge. The village offers a good choice of waterside places to eat and drink as well as ‘Roys’ department store and supermarket which claims to be the ‘largest village store in the country’. Nearby attractions include ‘Wroxham Miniature Worlds’ - Europe’s second largest indoor model railway display, ‘Bewilderwood’ – a magical family adventure park and the Bure Valley Steam Railway.

Further afield you can easily visit Norfolk’s sandy beaches (just 20 minutes’ drive away) where you can enjoy the famous fresh Cromer Crab, visit the seal sanctuary at Blakeney or enjoy the lively entertainments offered by Great Yarmouth.

Whilst staying at Wroxham, why not include a visit to the Mediaeval City of Norwich (20 minutes away by car or train). Offering a superb historic outdoor market, stunning cathedral and 12th Century castle plus a huge choice of fascinating and unique shops, it really is a visit not to be missed.
